Most of the best training sessions I've ever had have been in a group setting. The energy of training in a group all towards the same goal can't be overstated. In a world where our jobs often drain our energy and willpower, training in a group setting often leads to a boost of morale and motivation-leading to a solid training session. Often the best Powerlifting and Weightlifting teams train together, despite the sports being individual endeavours.
Small Group Personal Training (SGPT) sessions allow you to train more frequently with your coach and therefore learn and develop the skills of lifting much faster and cheaper than by doing one to one sessions. You could try to teach yourself Via Youtube or similar but there's so many different ways exercises are demonstrated and the beginner lifter can't determine what's useful or not.
In SGPT you still get a tailored experience. Every exercise is scaled and adjusted to fit your needs and ability. The program won't be as highly tailored to the individual as a one to one program but with the team environment and increased frequency, group sessions lead to training harder and therefore getting a more impactful stimulus. One key component to making real results is training hard and pushing yourself. It's often easier to do this in a group setting rather than training alone.
SGPT sessions are fun. A good laugh between sets can revitalise us and keep the party going. We have multiple members join us who had been training alone and weren't really enjoying it to go on to tell us a few weeks in that this is the most consistent they've been in a long time. It takes a little push to get in the door and try something new but once you're in, the momentum takes you on.
SGPT sessions take place at peak gym times It can be very difficult to get on to many pieces of kit and adhere to a traing program. In a small group session, everyone had their own kit and there's no waiting around for other members. Also, there's no unhinged folk doing obscure movements or breaking equipment in the background. No weird dudes staring, no influencers filming.
It's highly effective, cost efficient and good craic. What are you waiting for?
